To learn how to use to Twitter to make money, I would recommend reading TwiTip, a blog by Darren Rowse of Problogger.

Jen,

then you might like ping.fm because it lets you set your status for several networks and tweet from the same app but not necessarily in a synched way. You get to decide where it is going and where not, but at the same time it helps handle several social network accounts.

If I follow the same people on various channels then I must say I get a bit annoyed reading the same thing across these channels, especially when they're written for Twitter and posted on Facebook say.

I use a Flickr app on Facebook as I'm only interested in uploading photos once, but a tagging friends option on these photos would be good.

That is definitively true and my focal points are Facebook and Twitter, but I do also use the others “on the side”. Each network has a very specific purpose for me, Stumble Upon for sharing other people’s art, Twitter to keep up with social media news and Facebook to connect on a deeper level and with old friends etc.
